The Queen's Reclaiming Her Own
My name is Jenny Scott. When I was twenty-three, I received a phone call that changed my life.
The voice on the other end claimed to be Harry Lincoln, saying he was my biological father.
Mary Shawn's voice carried a deliberately gentle tone, inviting me to return to the Lincoln family to acknowledge my roots and become the true eldest daughter of the Lincoln family.
My knuckles whitened as I gripped the phone. Eighteen years in an orphanage had long since numbed me to the word 'family.'
Before heading to the Lincoln family, I had someone check into their background.
The Lincoln Group is worth tens of billions. The family has one son and one daughterthe eldest son, Kevin Lincoln, and the adopted daughter, Vivian Lincoln.
As the car entered the Lincoln family villa compound, I saw Kevin Lincoln standing at the gate.
He wore a bespoke suit, his brows and eyes brimming with undisguised hostility, as if scrutinizing an intruder.
"Ms. Scott," he handed me a document, his tone icy, "this is an agreement to voluntarily waive your inheritance of Lincoln Group shares. You must sign it before you can enter this house."
I glanced at the terms of the agreement and found them laughable.
"Young Master Lincoln," I met his gaze head-on, "I am the daughter of the Lincoln family. Inheriting the shares is my rightful claim."
Kevin Lincoln's face darkened, and the lawyer behind him stepped forward.
"Ms. Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln have already agreed to transfer part of the shares to Ms. Vivian Lincoln. You have no right to interfere."
Suddenly, I smiled and pulled a copy of the forensic report out of my bag.
"Do Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln know you're not their biological child?"
Those words hit like thunder, turning the surrounding servants' faces pale.
Kevin Lincoln's pupils shrank sharply as he reached out to snatch the report from me. "What nonsense are you spouting!"
I stepped aside and tore the agreement into pieces.
As the paper scraps fluttered down, I looked at his pale face. "I have plenty more proof that you were switched at birth fifteen years ago."
The villa's front door swung open, and Mary Shawn supported Harry Lincoln as he walked out.
Seeing the scene before her, Mary Shawn's voice held just the right amount of panicshe had long known Kevin Lincoln wasn't her biological son, but she never expected me to produce the proof so quickly, let alone dare to expose it in public.
"Jenny, Kevin, what are you doing?"
Kevin Lincoln immediately wore a wronged expression. "Mom, Ms. Scott is slandering me, saying I'm not your biological child!"
I sneered coldly and handed the original Forensic Report to Harry Lincoln.
Harry Lincoln's hands trembled as he flipped through the report, while Mary Shawn's face turned pale at just the right moment, hiding a trace of calculation in her eyesshe knew this day would come eventually, but in front of Harry Lincoln, she had to pretend to be shocked and devastated.
The air seemed to freeze, broken only by the rustling of leaves in the wind.
"This... this can't be..." Mary Shawn muttered, her eyes shifting nervously, her act flawless.
I knew from the start that this acknowledgment of kinship was a war. Mary Shawn had long held the script, wanting me to be a disposable pawn on her chessboard.
In the end, I still moved into the Lincoln family villa.
Mary Shawn arranged for me to stay in the penthousea lavishly decorated yet cold space. She wanted to appear conciliatory but feared I might get too close to the center of power, threatening Kevin Lincoln, whom she had carefully groomed.
At dinner, Vivian Lincoln wore a white dress, looking like an innocent little white flower.
She served me some food, her voice soft and sweet: "Sister, I've always taken your spot before. Please don't be mad, okay?"
I didn't take her chopsticks, replying calmly, "One can never take a spot that doesnt belong to them."
Vivian Lincoln's eyes immediately turned red. She lowered her head and sobbed quietly.
"Jenny, Vivian is young. Don't be so aggressive."
Mary Shawn frowned, her tone reproachful. She needed to protect Vivian Lincoln as a "pawn" and simultaneously suppress the sharp edge I was just beginning to show.
I looked up at her and said, "I'm just telling the truth. Did I say something wrong?"
Kevin put down his chopsticks and scoffed coldly, "Jenny, don't think that just because you are the real daughter of this family that you can act recklessly."
"Is that so?" I took out my phone and played a recording. "Young Master Lincoln, does Mr. Lincoln know that you embezzled company funds to buy luxury goods for Vivian Lincoln?"
Kevin's face instantly darkened.
Harry Lincoln put down his bowl and said sternly, "Kevin, is this true?"
"Dad, Jenny is framing me!" Kevin hurried to defend himself, but didn't dare meet Harry Lincoln's gaze.
I put away my phone and ate deliberately, "If you dont believe me, just check the company's accounts and you'll find out."
In the following days, Kevin Lincoln targeted me at every turn.
He deliberately placed lilies, which I'm allergic to, in the living room and had the servants throw my clothes into the storage room.
I refused to stay silent. I threw the lilies straight into the trash and had the butler put my clothes back where they belonged.
"Young Master Lincoln," I said, looking him in the eye, "playing these childish games is meaningless."
Kevin was rendered speechless by my comeback and turned around to enforce the "family discipline."
He held a rosewood whip, threatening to teach me, this 'unruly' wild girl, a lesson.
"Just try touching me once and see what happens." I stood my ground, my eyes cold. "I can call the police right now and press charges for assault."
Kevin's hand froze mid-air, his face going pale and then flushing.
Mary Shawn quickly stepped forward and grabbed him. "Kevin! Don't be impulsive!"
She wasn't worried about me getting hurt but feared the situation might spiral out of control, exposing her old secret of swapping and, more importantly, losing the 'son' she had carefully cultivated as her leverage for years.
I sneered coldly and turned back to my room.
I knew this was only the beginning; Mary Shawn would never let me easily take everything from Kevin Lincolnafter all, Kevin was the 'tool' she had personally traded for to maintain her position back then.
The Lincoln Group's stock price began to plummet, and the news was flooded with negative reports.
Harry Lincoln was so anxious he was practically frothing at the mouth; several projects led by Kevin Lincoln suffered consecutive losses, pushing the company to the brink of crisis.
At the board meeting, shareholders were loud with complaints and demanded the CEO be replaced.
Kevin Lincoln sat in the chairman's seat, his face pale as steel, yet he couldn't come up with any solution.
I pushed open the door and walked into the conference room, placing a proposal on the table.
"Board members, I have a way to bring Lincoln Group back to life."
All eyes turned to me.
Kevin Lincoln slammed his hand on the table and stood up. "Jenny Scott! This is a Board of Directors meeting. You have no right to speak!"
"Young Master Lincoln," an elderly board member said, "the company is on the verge of collapse. Maybe we should hear Ms. Scott's ideas."
The other board members quickly nodded in agreement, and Kevin Lincoln sat down reluctantly.
I laid out my plan in detail, clearly explaining everything from layoffs and restructuring to new project investments.
The shareholders nodded repeatedly, and Harry Lincoln's face showed a look of relief.
"I agree that Ms. Scott should take over the CEO position." The senior board member was the first to speak.
The others quickly followed suit, leaving Kevin Lincoln to watch helplessly as I stripped him of his power.
Mary Shawn sat quietly in the corner of the conference room, her face calm, but a cold glint flickered in her eyesshe knew it was time to change tactics against me.
I dismissed Kevin Lincoln's trusted aides planted in the company, shut down several loss-making projects, and launched a new beauty product line.
Kevin Lincoln stormed up angrily, "Jenny Scott! On what grounds are you messing up with my people!"
"Because I am the CEO." Without looking up, I handled the documents, "The Lincoln Group isn't your personal domain; the capable rise, the incapable fall."
Vivian Lincoln joined the commotion, feigning concern, "Sister, you've just taken office and are already making such sweeping changes. Aren't you afraid of offending people?"
"All I know is, if we don't reform now, Lincoln Group is finished." I looked at her, "If you truly care about the company, why not put up the shares you hold to support its operations?"
Vivian Lincoln's expression instantly changed; she stammered, unable to respond.
I stopped paying attention to her and threw myself back into work.
During that time, I slept no more than four hours a day, immersing myself in the company and tackling challenges with the team.
Hard work paid off; three months later, Lincoln Group's stock price soared, the new product line was a huge success, and profits skyrocketed.
At the celebration banquet, Harry Lincoln held my hand, his eyes red with emotion: "Jenny, thank youyou saved Lincoln Group."
I pulled my hand away and gave a faint smile: "I just did what I was supposed to do."
I saw Mary Shawn hesitateshe wanted to please me, the biological daughter who could bring benefits to the Lincoln family, yet she couldn't let go of Kevin Lincoln, her carefully managed 'pawn' for years, and she feared I'd uncover the truth about the baby swap back then.
I also saw the resentment in Kevin Lincoln's and Vivian Lincoln's eyes.
I know they won't let this go easily.
Ever since I became CEO, I've been secretly gathering evidence.
I have a whole folder of proof that Kevin Lincoln embezzled company funds and falsified accounts.
What shocked me even more was discovering the ambiguous relationship between Kevin Lincoln and Vivian Lincoln.
The surveillance footage shows them kissing in the villa's garden and meeting secretly on the company's stairwell.
I copied the videos onto an encrypted USB drive.
These so-called siblings definitely have a dark secret.
I also uncovered that the baby mix-up involving me years ago was no accident.
It was Mary Shawn who, unable to have a son back then and fearing rejection by the Lincoln family, bribed a nurse at the hospital to switch me with Kevin Lincoln right after we were born.
From beginning to end, she knew Kevin was not her biological son; he was just a 'pawn' she used to secure her position.
Vivian Lincoln is actually Mary Shawn's distant niece.
After losing her parents, Mary took her into the Lincoln family to raise, always treating her as a pawn to stir up trouble and suppress rivals.
These truths are like sharp knives, piercing through the so-called 'family love.'
My last faint hope for the Lincoln family has been completely shattered.
Kevin Lincoln seemed to sense my move and began to be wary of me.
He sent people to follow me, trying to steal back the evidence I had gathered.
I was prepared. I had my bodyguards counter-surveil and caught his men red-handed.
"Young Master Lincoln," I sent Kevin the surveillance footage. "Stop wasting your efforts."
Kevin replied with a threatening message: "Jenny Scott, I won't let you have the upper hand forever."
I looked at the message and smiled.
I'm waiting for him to reveal more weaknesses, waiting to deliver the fatal blow.
Mary Shawn also began to show kindness to me, having the servants prepare tonics for me every day and finding all sorts of reasons to confide in me.
"Jenny, it was my fault before for not taking good care of you."
She held my hand, her eyes so tender they almost felt fake. "I will definitely make it up to you from now on."
She knew deep down that now I'm the backbone of Lincoln Group, and a head-on clash would only end in mutual destruction.
She wanted me to let my guard down, to develop a "mother-daughter bond" with her, so she could spare Kevin Lincoln and cover up the crimes she committed back then.
I pulled my hand back, my tone calm: "Mrs. Lincoln, that's unnecessary."
I could see that her gentleness was all an act.
But I, Jenny Scott, will never believe those empty illusions again.
The Lincoln Group's Celebration Banquet for entering the Fortune Global 500 was especially grand.
The banquet hall was brilliantly lit, filled with celebrities, and everyone cast admiring glances at me.
Kevin Lincoln, dressed in a sharp suit and holding a wine glass, approached me.
"Ms. Scott, congratulations." His smile was fake, but his eyes concealed a ruthless darkness.
"Thank you." I took the glass but didn't drink.
Vivian Lincoln stepped over, wearing a red evening gownbright and stunning.
"Sister, I toast you with this glass, wishing you a bright future." She handed me a glass of champagne, her eyes flickering with something.
I stared at the champagne, alarm bells ringing in my mind.
I knew for sure they had bad intentions.
"Sis, I'm allergic to alcohol, so I won't drink." I passed the glass to the bodyguard beside me. "Pour it out."
Vivian Lincoln's face changed instantly, a little flustered: "Sister, it's just champagne, the alcohol content is very low..."
"I said no drinking." I cut her off, my eyes icy cold.
Kevin Lincoln and Vivian Lincoln exchanged a glance, clearly not expecting me to be so alert.
Just then, the banquet hall's big screen suddenly went dark.
Immediately after, a video began to playKevin Lincoln and Vivian Lincoln conspiring in the study, plotting to poison my drink and ruin my face.
"Once she's disfigured, Dad and Mom won't care about her anymoreLincoln Group will still be ours!" Vivian's voice was laced with malice.
"Don't worry, this poison is colorless and tasteless. Even if it's discovered, it can be pinned on someone else." Kevin Lincoln spoke with a smug tone.
The entire room erupted in shock; everyone was stunned.
Kevin Lincoln and Vivian Lincoln turned pale as paper, trembling all over.
Mary Shawn stood in the crowd, her expression conflictedshe might have guessed Kevin Lincoln would act, but never imagined he'd be so foolish as to slip up in this setting.
"Kevin Lincoln, Vivian Lincoln, do you have anything else to say?" I stepped forward, my voice cold.
Kevin Lincoln tried to defend himself, "Jenny Scott! You're framing us! This video is forged!"
"A simple check will reveal the truth." I raised my hand to signal, and the bodyguard pulled out a forensic report.
"Also, Kevin, you're not the Lincoln family's biological son. This is irrefutable evidence."
The forensic report was projected onto the large screen, clearly showing that Kevin Lincoln had no blood relation to Harry Lincoln and Mary Shawn.
Harry Lincoln staggered, pointing at Kevin, too furious to speak. "You... you..."
Mary Shawn collapsed to the ground at the right moment, covering her face and crying bitterly, "How could this be... how could this be..."
She acted with heartbreaking sincerity, as if she had just discovered this "earth-shattering secret," but only she knew this was the humiliating exposure of years of lies.
