A Mother's Revenge

A Mother's Revenge

After I woke up from the car accident, my husband told me that our newborn son was severely injured and had already passed away.

Afraid I would be heartbroken, he said he had already buried our son.

Four years later, just as I was beginning to heal from the pain of losing my son, I suddenly received an email.

"Your son is not dead. Your husband gave him to someone else."

I couldn't help but confront my husband, but overheard his call with a friend.

"The child's condition is very serious. Only his biological mother, Estella Dean, can donate bone marrow to him."

"You never should have done that back then. I know you pitied your sister-in-law for being widowed so young and losing her own child, but you can't just give away your own son to her."

Only then did I realize that the email was actually telling the truth.

If that was the case, I'd play along with his game.

I would not only reclaim my son but also make those responsible pay the price.

From the study, my husband, Princeton Massey, angrily shouted.

I pretended I had just heard the commotion, gently pushed open the door, and looked concerned.

"What happened? I just heard you mention a bone marrow transplant. Does this mean Henry's illness can be treated?"

When Princeton heard my voice, he clearly grew uneasy.

He hastily set aside his phone and said, "That's right, the doctor just called and said you and Henry are a successful match."

I nodded. "That's wonderful. Let's hurry to the hospital to prepare for the transplant."

I said this because I truly wanted to save my sonand also to lower Princeton's guard.

As expected, Princeton was both surprised and delighted. He hugged me tightly. "Estella, thank you."

His embrace was still warm, but my heart felt cold.

That year, not long after I gave birth, my child and I were in a car accident on our way home.

When I woke up, Princeton told me with a grief-stricken face that my child had died.

For more than half a year after that, depression tormented me until I was a wreck. I cried every day, and whenever I closed my eyes, I seemed to see the tiny body of my child.

During that time, Princeton stayed by my side every day, catering to my every need and taking meticulous care of me.

I thought he was my salvation, but I did not expect that he would be the one who pushed me into hell.

We rushed to the hospital, where I asked the doctor in detail about bone marrow transplantation.

After leaving the doctor's office, I was thinking about how to get Princeton to leave so I could be alone with my son.

At that moment, a call came from Leighton Key.

She said she was worried about the child's illness and couldn't sleep all night, asking Princeton to bring her sleeping pills.

I sneered in my heart. If she really cared about the child, she should have come to the hospital to look after him.

She did this because she was afraid that if I spent too much time with Princeton, he would ignore her.

However, this actually gave me an opportunity.

After Princeton left, I went to the hospital room to see my son.

Henry smiled as soon as he saw me and greeted me in a sweet, childlike voice, "Hello, Estella."

Tears welled up in my eyes, and I gently held him in my arms, gripping his small hand.

But soon, I noticed something was wrong.

Henry's delicate arms were covered with scars.

I furrowed my brow and asked softly, my heart aching, "Honey, what happened to your injuries?"

My son lowered his head timidly and whispered, "Mom hit me."

It felt as if my heart had been struck with a heavy hammer, so painful that I could hardly breathe.

Over the past few years, Leighton was afraid I'd notice something was wrong, so she rarely brought Henry to see me.

That was why I never realized that Henry suffered so much abuse from her.

I gently touched his head, feeling heartbroken, and asked, "Did you tell Princeton?"

Henry nodded. "I did. Princeton said if I behaved better next time, Mom won't hit me."

I was shaking with anger, my hands and feet icy cold.

Henry was his own son, yet he completely ignored Leighton's abuse.

There was a bond between mother and child, and I couldn't hold back any longer; I burst into tears in front of my child.

Henry acted very sensibly, reaching out his small hand to wipe away my tears, comforting me like an adult.

He said, "I really like you. Please don't cry."

I stroked his face, holding back my grief, choking as I asked, "Would you like to stay at my house? I will buy you lots of toys and snacks."

Henry's eyes lit up instantly. He clapped his little hands excitedly and said, "Yes! As long as I'm well fed, I don't care where we go."

He would go with me just as long as he got enough to eat.

How did Leighton and Princeton actually treat him?

My chest ached so fiercely it stole my breath, and all I could do was wrap my son gently in my arms.

That night, I sold all of my property.

The seller told me that all the money would be transferred to my new account in three days.

Three days from now, I would leave Princeton with my child.

Early the next morning, Princeton looked upset and asked, "Why did you sell the large flat in the city center? Why do you need so much cash?"

I had already prepared my answer and replied calmly, "I've been learning about investments lately, and I need more money for that."

Princeton listened, nodded, and didn't ask further. He continued, "Estella, Leighton has been worried about the child these days and got sick from exhaustion. She said she wants to eat your cooking. Why don't you come with me today to see herand show off your skills a little?"

I sneered in my heart. What is she actually worried about?

Henry had been sick for so long, and she hadn't gone to the hospital even once. Instead, she said she didn't feel well and clung to Princeton every day.

But I pushed down my feelings, thinking this was a good opportunity to investigate the real reason behind Henry's illness.

Half an hour later, Princeton's car drove into Leighton's villa.

As soon as he got out of the car, Leighton ran out of the house and said sweetly, "Princeton, I thought you wouldn't come today."

Seeing me, she pretended to be surprised. "Estella actually agreed to come take care of me. That's rare."

I kept a neutral expression and glanced at her calmly. "You are Princeton's sister-in-law, so of course I'm here to look after you."

I emphasized the word "sister-in-law," and the unwillingness in Leighton's eyes deepened.

She said, "You're really capable, unlike me. I rely on Princeton for everything."

She chatted and laughed with Princeton as they walked into the house.

As soon as we entered, she affectionately fed her unfinished orange to Princeton, pouting, "Princeton, this orange is so sour. I don't want it anymore. You eat it!"

Princeton naturally ate the rest of the orange she had left.

After all these years as a married couple, he never ate my leftovers.

Perhaps sensing my gaze, Princeton turned around and anxiously explained, "I just don't want to waste it. Don't read too much into it."

Why would I care? I gave up on him a long time ago.

Watching him nervously try to explain, I could only find it ridiculous.

He pretended to look after Leighton, flirting with her every day. Feeding her fruit was probably already him holding back.

Seeing the groceries in my hand finally reminded him to help.

"I didn't notice earlier. Did you get tired carrying those?"

When he got out of the car just now, he was so busy chatting with Leighton that he completely forgot there were more than ten pounds of ingredients in the trunk.

I said calmly, "It's fine. Everything's sorted. I'll check Henry's room, since he didn't bring enough clothes for his hospital stay."

Seeing my calm tone, Princeton breathed a sigh of relief and turned to keep Leighton company in the living room.

I went upstairs to the second floor, only to find that Henry's room was actually the storeroom at the end of the corridor.

The room was small and damp, with no windows. Inside was a 'bed' pieced together with cardboard, covered by a thin blanket that couldn't keep him warm.

I couldn't imagine how a four-year-old could live in such conditions.

This was the child I carried for ten months and gave birth to. Why would they treat him so cruelly?

"So this is where you are." Suddenly, Leighton's smug voice came from behind.

I turned around, not having had time to wipe the tears from my face.

Seeing me like this only excited her more.

Laughing, she said, "The room I prepared for the little brat isn't bad, is it?"

I could no longer contain my anger. I rushed over, grabbed her collar, and slammed her against the wall.

"Why did you do this?"

Leighton grinned maliciously, "You saw that email, right? I sent it."

"I'll tell you the truthHenry's leukemia? That was my doing. I never fed him properly. He was so hungry that he'd eat anything, even the pills I slipped him. Keep at it long enough, and of course he got sick."

Leighton admitted to all these vile acts herself. Was she so fearless because Princeton was backing her?

That was the child I risked my life to bring into this world, yet she abused him like he was a stray animal.

Every time I thought about my child, whom I had missed day and night, being tortured by her for four years, it felt as if countless blades were cutting through my heart. The pain was almost suffocating.

The overwhelming grief instantly shattered my sanity. I wished I could tear her apart.

But just as I pinned Leighton to the ground, someone kicked me over. The pain left me sprawled, unable to get up for a long time.

"Leighton! Are you alright?"

Princeton frowned in deep worry and anxiously checked Leighton's body.

Leighton immediately started crying with tears streaming down her face and threw herself into Princeton's arms. "Princeton, Estella accused me of seducing you. I denied it, but she hit me. She even called Henry a bastard and said she didn't care about saving him at all!"

On hearing this, Princeton looked at me coldly, his eyes devoid of any warmth. "Estella, was all that generosity you showed just an act? I'm truly disappointed in you!"

Clutching my injured waist, I forced myself to stand despite the pain, feeling utterly defeated.

I said, "Princeton, she deliberately let Henry take the wrong medication. That's why he has leukemia. And you still protect her?"

Princeton didn't hesitate and snapped back, "Stop making things up! Leighton can't even bring herself to hurt kittens and puppies. She would never harm her own child!

"Have you caused enough trouble? Apologize to Leighton right now!"

Leighton clung to Princeton's chest, weakly crying out in pain. "Princeton, Estella was too rough. My chest feels tight and I can't breathe."

Princeton grew even angrier when he saw her injury and threatened, "If you don't apologize to Leighton, we'll get a divorce!"

After saying this, he picked up Leighton without hesitation and walked away.

When they left, I clung to the last shred of awareness long enough to call an ambulance. Then everything went dark, and I fell into oblivion.

When I woke up again, I was already lying in a hospital bed.

Two days later, I was discharged and saw Princeton again.

His expression was as icy as ever. "Leighton is my sister-in-law. Even if your jealousy drives you crazy, there should be limits! How am I supposed to face others after this gets out? And how do I explain this to my late brother?"

I looked at him, finding the whole thing absurd, and couldn't help but let out a cold laugh.

Taking care of his sister-in-law? He was probably the only one who believed such a lousy excuse.

I'd been kicked and injured by him, suffering for two days and nights while our child was left unattended in the hospital room.

And him? He stayed at the hospital with Leighton, washing her personal clothes and cooking meals for her.

I saw all these in Leighton's showy social media posts.

When I still refused to do as he wished, Princeton directly threw a divorce agreement in front of me. His tone was so cold that there was no room for negotiation. "You have only two choices now, either apologize to Leighton or get a divorce."

After Princeton left, I didn't hesitate at all and signed my name on the divorce agreement.

The next day, this agreement would be sent to his office.

After everything was done, I went to the ward and took my son with me.

I also left behind crucial evidence of Leighton abusing my child, along with a farewell letter containing all the truths I knew.

Early the next morning, I rushed to the airport with my son.

I silently counted the time. Princeton should have received my divorce agreement by now.

As expected, right before boarding, my phone started vibrating.

It was a call from Princeton. His tone was much softer than before.

"Estella, I'm glad you're willing to apologize. Did I hurt you when I kicked you yesterday? When I get back, I'll massage it for you."

From his reaction, he probably didn't read the divorce agreement and thought that sending it back meant I was giving in.

I asked calmly, "Where are you now?"

Princeton lied, "Where else could I be? I'm at the hospital with Henry."

I smiled. Henry was clearly right by my side.

Today was Leighton's birthday, and he was choosing a gift for her.

I quietly hung up and deleted all his contact information, then switched to a new SIM card.

Princeton and Leighton were happily celebrating the birthday.

The secretary rushed over and said anxiously, "Mr. Massey, Henry is missing!"

Princeton was shocked. "How could that happen? Wasn't Estella taking care of the child?"

The secretary said, "Mrs. Massey is also missing."

Princeton suddenly remembered something. He hurriedly searched for the previous divorce agreement and finally saw my signature.

His expression darkened.

He found Cooper Juarez and said anxiously, "Did Estella contact you before and mention where she was going?!"

Watching Princeton so lost, Cooper sighed deeply.

"I warned you long ago, you shouldn't let Leighton take the child. The older he gets, the more he resembles Estella. Anyone would be suspicious."

Princeton remained stubborn and repeatedly denied it.

Seeing this, Cooper did not say any more, but handed a report to Princeton.
