Too Late for Regrets: Your Love Is Worthless Now

Too Late for Regrets: Your Love Is Worthless Now

Cassandra and Oliver grew up together. They had known each other since childhood and were each others first love. To make her smile, Oliver spent millions on fireworks across the whole city on her birthday.

When a car accident happened, he protected her and broke seven ribs. He almost died that day.

Cassandra also loved him deeply. When Oliver got kicked out by his family, she gave him all her money to help him start a business. She'd drank traditional medicine for three years just to get pregnant with his child.

But on the day Cassandra was told she was pregnant, everything changed. She saw Oliver pinning her twin sister onto the bed and kissing her wildly.

Cassandra felt like she was struck by lightning.

What are you doing?! she shouted angrily.

Oliver turned around in panic. When he saw Cassandra at the door, his face went blank.

He stood up at once and said nervously, Sandy, why are you here?

He suddenly pushed Bianca away and shouted coldly, Who are you? How dare you pretend to be my wife!

Bianca looked at him with tears in her eyes. It was his fault! He got drunk and mistook me for my sister.

Then she cried and looked at Cassandra. Sister, I didnt do it on purpose. Please dont be angry, okay?

Seeing this, Cassandra felt dizzy. Her body swayed and she almost fainted.

Oliver quickly held her. Sandra, you can hit me or scold me, but please dont hurt yourself.

His eyes were full of regret. He blamed himself without end. Please believe me. This is all a misunderstanding.

Bianca cried even harder and slapped herself. Sister, dont be angry. Its all my fault. Please dont be mad.

Cassandra grabbed Biancas hand and forced herself to believe them.

But that night, she saw the truth.

She saw Oliver holding Bianca in his arms and saying softly, Bianca, it was all thanks to you. if not, your sister would have found out about us this afternoon.

Because of you, she foolishly believed I couldnt tell you apart from her. He then laughed coldly. She doesnt know that even if you dressed the same and stood in front of me, I would still recognize you at once, Bianca.

Cassandras hand froze on the door handle. Her blood felt frozen. Her heart felt like it was being stabbed by countless needles.

So everything Oliver said earlier was a lie.

It wasnt that he couldnt tell them apart. He had already been cheating with her own sister for a long while.

But why? Why would they do this to her?

Her whole body trembled with anger. She was about to rush in and confront them when Bianca spoke again.

If you never that idea to use my sister as a decoy for the Lockharts and protected me, I might be dead by now. Bianca smiled brightly, her eyes full of gratitude.

Cassandra felt shocked. Suddenly, everything made sense.

Three years ago, Bianca insisted on going abroad to gain experience.

At that time, Oliver was clearly loving Bianca the most. Yet, he suddenly proposed to Cassandra in an open public area and married her.

Cassandra truly thought she would live a happy life. But after marriage, strange things kept happening.

Her car broke down and she almost died in an accident. She was pushed into a reservoir while traveling and nearly drowned. At a banquet, she was almost shot by an assassin.

All of those showed that someone was targeting her.

When she told Oliver, he only looked at her gently and said, Sandra, those are just accidents. You are my wife. Who would dare hurt you?

But now she finally understood.

The person Bianca offended in the past was from the Lockhart Family. The very people even Oliver dared not provoke.

Bianca had killed Director Damon Lockharts sister and was hunted down. She secretly escaped abroad, leaving Cassandra, her twin with the same face, to stay in the country and marry Oliver for the public to know.

The happiness and excitement she felt when he proposed now turned into sharp knives cutting her heart.

She remembered that day three years ago.

The young, handsome and gentle Oliver stood at her door. He said softly, Sandra, marry me. I will make you happy.

Cassandra had secretly loved Oliver for ten years. Hearing his proposal made her so shocked that she agreed without thinking.

After marriage, she once asked him, Wasnt the person you loved my sister?

Oliver smiled bitterly and said, Silly girl. The one I love now is you.

She felt something was wrong with it, but didnt ask more.

Now, hearing Oliver cold voice clearly say, She isnt worth even one strand of your hair. If she wasn't even useful to block the Lockharts away, I would have left her long ago.

He continued, Now that the Lockharts are abroad and you are back, its time to divorce her.

So that was the real reason Oliver married her. If Cassandra hadnt accidentally heard all this, she might have stayed foolish forever.

Her phone suddenly vibrated.

In a daze, she took it out. It was a message from her doctor:

Ms. Wolfe, congratulations. You are pregnant. The baby is already three months old.

Cassandra felt like she had heard a huge joke. Pregnant? Was that even possible?

Three days ago, she kept feeling sick and vomiting. At her mothers suggestion, she went for a medical checkup. She never expected to find out that she was already carrying Olivers child.

She smiled, but tears kept falling. Why now? Why did she have to get pregnant at this moment?

Three years ago, she slipped and fell into the river and almost died. After she was rescued, the doctor said she would never be able to have children again.

Because of this, the Prescotts, Oliver's family, refused to accept her. Even so, Oliver insisted on marrying her. He got driven out of the family and endured great pressure just to be with her.

That year, Oliver became the biggest joke in their social circle. He got labelled as that man who gave up his familys business and wealth for a woman.

Cassandra felt both touched and guilty. She tried everything to get pregnant. She even drank traditional medicine for three years, but nothing worked.

So why, at the moment when she regretted ever meeting Oliver, was she carrying his child? Why was fate so cruel to her?

Inside the bedroom, Oliver and Bianca were still holding each other closely, whispering sweet words.

Outside the room, Cassandras eyes changed from pain, to numbness and finally to coldness. She lowered her head, took out her phone and made an appointment for an abortion.

The doctor tried to persuade her. [Ms. Wolfe, you already have a condition that getting pregnant was greatly difficul. If you miss this chance, you may never be able to have a child again.]

Cassandras hand trembled as she held the phone. She touched her stomach and looked at the two people in the room.

She smiled bitterly. If I cannot give my baby happiness, I would rather not have it.

She was already broken and Oliver was destined to never give fatherly love for the baby.

After hanging up, she felt all her strength leave her body. She leaned against the wall, her nails digging into her palm until blood flowed.

She slowly lowered her head, then suddenly laughed. Her voice was hoarse as she whispered, Bianca. Oliver. Since you want to be together, I will let you two have it.

She then contacted a lawyer to ask about divorce procedures. The lawyer told her that even after filing for divorce, there would be a 30-day cooling-off period.

She couldnt wait that long. But when she checked her personal records, her marital status still showed single.

Her face turned pale.

She once took out her marriage certificate to a city hall, but the staff said to her, Ms. Wolfe, this marriage certificate is fake. Were you deceived into marriage?

Deceived?

Cassandra forced a stiff smile. She didnt want to believe it, yet she had no choice.

She knew Oliver had lied to her. But she never imagined that even their marriage was fake.

They werent even legally husband and wife.

It had all been a carefully planned trap. The love she believed was the most sincere now felt disgusting.

Thinking about being fooled for three years made her stomach churn. The nausea was so strong she almost vomited. Without realizing it, she walked to the entrance of Olivers company.

Back then, they were young and deeply in love. Oliver had built the company himself and named it after their names.

Cassandra and OliverO&C Enterprises.

Cassandra once felt extremely happy, believing it was proof of their love. Now, it felt like a cruel joke.

She opened her phone and signed up to be a volunteer teacher in a mountain village.

The staff asked her, Once you go, you wont be able to leave for three years from the area. Are you sure, miss?

Cassandra replied calmly, Im sure.

Alright. A car will come to pick you up in seven days, Ms. Wolfe, said the staff.

After hanging up, Cassandra took a deep breath and wiped the tears from her face.

Oliver... in seven days, will you feel regret after you realize Ive already left?

When Cassandra returned home, the birthday cake was already badly ruined. In the end, she put it into the refrigerator.

The next second, her sister sent a message, [Sister, I was busy just now and didnt see your message. Did you come over?]

Cassandra gave a cold, sarcastic smile.

She really wanted to reply that she did came over Bianca's place and that she had even seen her cheating with Oliver.

But reason stopped her.

[I had something come up, so I haven't been at your place,] she replied.

Bianca then sent back a smiling emoji. Cassandra didnt reply again.

That night, Oliver and Cassandra organized a party specially to celebrate Biancas birthday.

Oliver came home as if nothing had happened and said with a smile, Bianca doesnt come back often. This time, we must make it special.

Aiden, his assistant said, Dont worry, Mr. Prescott. Ill take care of the banquet.

No need. Ill do it myself, Oliver replied.

As soon as he said that, both Cassandra and Aiden froze.

Oliver immediately called a hotel receptionist and confirmed every detail of the party. He smiled gently, looking relaxed and happy. But both Cassandra and Aiden knew that Oliver hated organizing banquets. He always found them tiring.

Even for Cassandras wedding, Oliver only bought her the most expensive jewels. He never personally handled the wedding arrangements.

He always left everything to his trusted assistant.

Aiden glanced at Cassandra, her expression complicated. But then, he she smiled quickly and said, Alright. Im familiar with these things, Sir. Ill help you out.

The two of them acted as if Cassandra didnt exist. They discussed the decorations and Biancas preferences, then left together laughing. Cassandra could only watch their backs. Her heart was already broken beyond repair.

So this was the difference between love and not loving someone.

She once believed Oliver loved her deeply. Now she finally understood that his love was obviously never for her.

She said silently to herself, Cassandra, look at this man you loved for more than ten years...

After they left, Cassandra took a taxi to the hospital. In the car, she gently touched her stomach. Her expression was soft and full of longing.

Lying on the operating table, Cassandra let the cold instruments turn her child into nothingness. When she felt the cold beneath her body, tears slid from the corner of her eyes.

She thought to herself: At this moment, Oliver was probably happily preparing Biancas birthday party.

If Oliver knew she had been pregnant and that she had ended the pregnancy, what would he feel?

Cassandra gave a cold smile.

After leaving the operating room, she rushed straight to the birthday party Oliver had prepared for Bianca.

But even though she hurried, she was still late.

Before she could apologize, Bianca angrily threw a torn dress at her.

Sandra, I know youre unhappy that I came back, Bianca said tearfully. But this is my favorite dress. Oliver gave it to me before. How could you ruin it?

Bianca was full of grief. She looked like she was about to cry and made people feel sorry for her.

But Cassandra had done absolutely nothing about the dress! She would never do something like that. Even if she wanted to, she didnt have the time.

So, she tried to explain, but no one believed her.

Oliver looked at her with certainty and said coldly, Sandra, I know youve always been jealous that your sister is more loved. But you cant do something like this.

Their parents also looked at her with cold faces. Since you were young, you always competed with your sister and lost every time. And now you'd do something this cruel? Hurry up and apologize to your sister!

Cassandra clenched her fingers. What if I dont apologize?

At that, her parents sneered. Then dont think about seeing Grandma Willow again. Shes the one who spoiled you and turned you into someone rude and uneducated. Compared to Bianca, youre just a useless child no one wants.

Cassandra laughed. Thats right. Since my own parents dont even want me, whats wrong with turning into a real child with no parents?

Alana, her mother, instantly blew up with anger. She raised her hand and slapped Cassandra hard across the face.

Shut up! I should never have given birth to you!

When Cassandra was born, Alana nearly died from heavy bleeding. Because of that, she always felt resentment toward her. So Cassandra was sent to live with Grandma Willow when she was young. She was only brought back when her grandma fell ill.

Even so, her parents always believed she was stealing Biancas affection. They bought Bianca beautiful clothes and jewelry and held a grand coming-of-age ceremony for her.

But for Cassandra, there was only distance and blame towards her. When she was young, she once said that her parents really did love her sister more. They remembered that sentence for years and labeled her as an envious kid.

Even now, Cassandras heart felt completely cold towards her parents. She had just undergone surgery. Her face was pale and bloodless. Yet they kept blaming her.

Today is your sisters birthday. You arrived late and caused trouble. Hurry up and apologize!

Her sister? A sister who stole her husband?

Cassandra looked at Bianca with mocking eyes. Her expression was cold as she said clearly, I wont apologize, unless you show me proof.

A loud slap echoed.

Oliver slapped her hard. His anger was so strong that the veins in his neck stood out.

Cassandra, he roared, Since when are you like this?

Cassandras ears rang and her head buzzed. But the pain in her heart was even worse than the pain on her face.

She had grown up with Oliver since childhood. After marriage, they had been together for years. Yet, Oliver believed Bianca more and so easily.

Cassandra looked at him and suddenly laughed. Oliver, I am your wife. Arent you afraid people will laugh at you for doing this?

His face darkened instantly. He grabbed her arm and dragged her away. Ill give you one last chance. Will you apologize to your sister?

Cassandra looked at him and asked, Do you remember what you said at our wedding? You said you would protect and love me for life. What are you even doing now?

For a moment, something moved in Olivers eyes.

But then Biancas voice came from behind them. Oliver, what are you doing?

All the hesitation in his eyes disappeared instantly. Oliver looked at Cassandra and suddenly pushed her into a small room.

Sandra, you once told me you are afraid of the cold. I'll put you in this freezer for frozen meat. If you apologize, I will let you out.

Cassandras whole body turned cold. The wounds from her recent surgery began to hurt again.

Even so, she did not give in. I will not apologize. Even if I die, I will not apologize.

Good. Very good, he said with a cold laugh. Then stay there until you're dead.

With a loud bang, he slammed the freezer door shut.

Inside, Cassandra could not open the door at all. Every second felt like her flesh was freezing solid. Even breathing hurt.

She kept banging on the door. Oliver! Let me out! This is murder! This is a crime!

But no one cared. Sometimes people passed by, but no one came in. After an unknown amount of time, her mind became blurry. Her heart felt like it was turning into ice.

She lost consciousness. When she opened her eyes again, pain woke her up.

Bianca slapped her across the face and looked down at her with open malice.

Sister, how does it feel to almost freeze to death? Bianca said with a smile. I cant let you die so easily. I still want you to watch my wedding with Oliver.

Cassandras voice was weak as she asked, Why? Im your sister, Bianca! Why are you treating me like this?

Bianca laughed loudly. Sister? What a joke. Do you think I would like a sister who competes with me for our parents love?

To be honest, I saw you yesterday at my place. I thought you would lose control, but you stayed calm.

So Bianca had known all along. She had even done it on purpose. That was why the door was left open.

Cassandra was in so much pain that her eyes looked empty.

Bianca smiled lightly. Sister, you should thank me. If it werent for me, Oliver wouldnt even look at you.

He said you are like plain water, tasteless. And I am like a strong rose.

I only said I wanted to lock you in this frezer and he really did it! What a surprise! Sister, how pitiful you are.

Oh, and that old Grandma Willow of yours, Bianca continued sweetly. She wants to leave all her inheritance to you. Should I change her medicine and let her die sooner? Her words were full of hatred, yet she smiled beautifully.

Cassandra could endure anything, but not this. She would never allow anyone to hurt Grandma Willow. In rage, almost crazed, Cassandra stood up and grabbed Bianca by the neck.

Bianca suddenly smiled smugly. Youre finished.

The next second, Oliver appeared at the door, his face full of anger. With a loud thud, Cassandra was thrown heavily to the ground. Her stomach hit a sharp corner.

She let out a terrible scream. Ah!

No one helped her.

Cassandra saw blood covering her body. She felt cold all over, as if she were about to die.

But she couldnt die. Grandma Willow still needed her.

Tears burst from her eyes. She lifted her head and begged them to save her. But no one looked at her.

Bianca cried as she hugged Olivers neck. Oliver, I only wanted to let my sister out. I didnt expect her to think you treated her badly because of me. She tried to strangle me. Im so scared.

She cried as if her heart were breaking.

Olivers heart ached for Bianca. When he looked at Cassandra, it was like he was looking at a dead person.

Their parents were also alarmed.

Alana kicked Cassandra hard and shouted, Cassandra! Bianca is the child I carried for nine months. How dare you hurt her!

Cassandras eyes turned red. Mom, I was also carried by you for nine months. Am I not your daughter too?

Alana laughed coldly. I dont have such a cruel daughter.

Cassandra felt her chest tighten. Her vision went black.

She completely lost consciousness.

Sandra, you must take care of yourself, Cassandra heard Grandma Willow's voice so closely in her ears.

When she woke up again, she was already in a hospital room. Clearly she was shocked, yet no one was there in her room.

Hearing the noise from her bed, a nurse walked in. Only then did Cassandra learn that she had been unconscious for three days.

The doctor showed her the medical report and said with serious tone, Your body was quite injured before. You had an abortion and you were locked in a freezer and almost froze to death.

The doctor shook her head. If you keep treating your body like this, something terrible will happen sooner or later.

Then Cassandra understood. So, her family had twisted the truth and told others that she had locked herself inside. A bitter smile appear on her lips.

At that moment, Oliver suddenly walked in. His face looked anxious. Sandra, something happened to Grandma Willow.

Hearing that, Cassandra ripped out the IV needle and struggled to get out of bed. What happened to Grandma? Where is she now?

Oliver pressed her down silently. Grandma fell by accident. The doctors have already issued a critical condition notice.

Cassandras vision went dark. Her mind went blank. How is that even possible? Grandma is strong for her age. She didn't have moevement problems so how did she even fall in the first place?

She shouted once more, Where is she now? I want to see her!

Oliver blocked her way and pressed her shoulders, forcing her to sit down. You cant go unless you sign this.

Cassandra looked down at the document. It was an agreement refusing her inheritance.

Her throat tightened as she looked at him in disbelief. What do you mean by this?

Oliver lowered his eyes guiltily. After a long moment, he looked up at her. Sandra, give Grandma Willows inheritance to Bianca.

Grandma has always favored you and ignored Bianca. Now you still have me, but Bianca has nobody

Cassandra trembled with anger. Her vision darkened again. The inheritance is made on Grandma Willows own decision. I will never sign it! Dont even think about it, Oliver!

Olivers gentle tone disappeared. His face became cold. Isnt having me enough? My money is your money. Why are you so narrow-minded, insisting on things that dont belong to you?

Ask yourself, who the hell is the one wanting something that doesnt belong to them? Cassandra said coldly. I dont want to argue with you. Move!

Suddenly, several bodyguards appeared.

Bianca walked in with a sweet smile. Sister, I suggest you sign quickly. If you wait any longer, you might not see Grandma one last time.

Cassandra stared at her with red, furious eyes. She is your Grandma too, Bianca. Why are you so heartless?

Stop talking nonsense, Bianca said impatiently. Are you signing the paper or not?

Cassandras pupils trembled as she looked at Oliver. He urged her with his eyes and then turned on a live video from Grandma Willows hospital room.

On the screen, Grandma Willow lay on the bed. Her face was pale, her breathing weak.

She kept calling softly, Sandra Sandra

Each word felt like a knife stabbing Cassandras heart, making it hard to breathe.

Fine, Cassandra said hoarsely. Ill sign.

Her hand shook as she held the pen. Tears would not stop falling. She wiped her face hard and signed her name.

The moment she finished signing, it felt as if all her strength had disappeared. She forced herself to stand up, about to rush to Grandma Willows hospital.

Suddenly, the monitor sounded with sharp beeping noises.

On the screen, Grandma Willow opened her eyes and said her final word, Cassandra

Then her eyes slowly closed. There was no more sound.

Cassandras eyes widened in horror. No! Grandma! Wait for me! I havent seen you yet! Don't leave me alone!

She tried to run, but Oliver grabbed her arm, his face full of false concern. Youre too weak. You need to rest.

Unable to hold back her rage, Cassandra slapped him hard. Get lost! If it werent for you, I wouldnt have missed her last moment! Drop dead, Oliver!

She screamed until her voice broke. The way she looked at him was full of hatred.

Oliver felt as if he didnt recognize her anymore. In the past, Cassandras eyes were always full of love and gentleness when she looked at him.

When had they become filled with hatred?

A strange, uneasy feeling surged in his heart. His breathing became unstable.

Still, he tightly held her arm and explained in panic, I didnt expect this to happen. Ill take you there now.

Ignoring her resistance, Oliver forced her into his car.

As they left the ward, Bianca stood behind them, holding the contract tightly. Her eyes were full of malice.

Inside the car, Olivers phone rang.

Cassandra saw the message from Bianca on the screen.

[Oliver, this time my sister will definitely try to fight me for Grandma Willows inheritance. Help me keep her here for a few days. Let her leave only after the funeral is over.]

When Cassandra saw Bianca's message, she was stunned. She couldn't understand how could someone be this cruel?

She wanted to delete it, but Oliver had already seen it.

Her eyes turned red as she begged him, Oliver, this is Grandma Willow we are talking about. I already missed seeing her before she died. At least let me see her one last time.

Oliver avoided her gaze. Sandra, dont be like this. Bianca has suffered a lot abroad these years. When everything is over, Ill let you go.

No. You cant, Cassandra said desperately.

She tried to open the car door, but Oliver locked it.

I swear I wont fight her for the inheritance, Cassandra said firmly. Let me get out of the car.

But no matter what she said, Oliver stayed cold. Three days. When everything is finished, Ill take you back.

Three days later, she wouldnt just miss the last goodbye, she wouldnt even see her grandma's burial.

Her heart felt like it was being cut apart. Overcome with rage, Cassandra slapped Oliver hard. She used all her strength and blood appeared at the corner of his mouth.

He stared at her with dark eyes. This is the second time youve hit me today. You never raised a hand against me before.

Cassandra finally broke down and shouted, Grandma Willow is the most important person in my life! Without her, I would have died long ago!

She lost control, screaming and hitting him. Oliver stayed calm the entire time.

Only when she was exhausted did he speak again. I will not let you out of the car.

Cassandra began to cry. Her whole body trembled. Im begging you, Oliver. I have never begged you before. Let me go. Let me see her one last time.

Oliver reached out and gently touched her cheek, speaking softly, In three days, Ill personally take you back to see her grave.

At that moment, the way Cassandra looked at him completely changed. Her eyes were filled with deep hatred.

Oliver, why dont you just die?

Olivers pupils trembled slightly. Sandra, after everything is over, I will make it up to you. Ill give you a real wedding.

Cassandra looked at him with disgust. Youre disgusting.

Oliver gripped the steering wheel tightly. His mind went blank.

Three days later, after the funeral ended, Cassandra finally appeared.

Relatives pointed at her and whispered, I heard Grandma Willow raised her personally and even left her all the inheritance. Yet she only shows up at the end.

If I were her grandma, Id be so angry Id climb out of the coffin.

Cassandra stared at Grandmas photo. No tears came out. She felt completely numb.

Her mother slapped her hard. Where were you these three days? Grandma loved you so much and you only come now? Do you deserve her love?

Oliver opened his mouth to speak, but Cassandra spoke first.

She looked at her mother and suddenly smiled. Do you really not know why I couldn't come all this time?

Alana avoided her gaze guiltily.

Bianca quickly shook her head. Mom waited for you, Sis. Are you blaming her for coming late?

Oliver frowned slightly. He wanted to speak but said nothing in the end.

Soon, everyone left.

Bianca and her parents walked away smiling. Oliver even booked a table to celebrate. They left happily together.

Cassandra stayed behind.

She reached out and touched the tombstone gently. Grandma, Im useless. I couldnt even see you one last time. But Grandma, I will make them all pay.

A cold light flashed in her eyes.

Cassandra stayed at the cemetery for the whole day. Only the next day did she return home and take out the hidden cameras she had secretly installed earlier.

Just as she was about to check them, she received a call from the maid. Madam, something bad happened. Lady Bianca took your most precious dark-blue dress.

Cassandras mind went blank.

Among all her dresses, there was only one dark-blue gown. Grandma Willow had sewn it by hand as a wedding gift for her. It was now the only thing her grandma had left her.

Her chest tightened. Stop her. Do not let her take it.

The maid said something on the other end.

Then Olivers voice came through the phone. Give it to Bianca. Its just a dress. As someone owning the title of Mrs. Prescott, do you really lack this much generosity?

Cassandras breathing became rapid. Any other dress is fine, but not that one. Grandma Willow left it for me

Before she could finish, the call was cut off. She didnt need to think to know who hung up.

A sharp pain struck her chest and she spat out a mouthful of blood. Cassandra wiped the blood from her lips and forced herself to calm down.

She called again. The line connected.

The maid said softly, Im sorry, madam. We couldnt stop her.

Lady Bianca has already worn the dress and left for the charity gala.

In previous years, Cassandra always attended the charity gala with Oliver.

But this year, she did not receive an invitation. Only then did she find out that Oliver had brought Bianca instead.

When she got into the car, she clenched her hands together tightly. Her mind felt empty and confused.

When she arrived at the gale and was about to enter, the security guard stopped her. Please show your invitation.

I dont have one, but I am Oliver Prescotts wife, Cassandra said.

The guard laughed. Mr. Prescotts wife already went in with him. If you want to pretend to be her, you should at least do some research.

Seeing that he didnt believe her, Cassandra took out her ID. The woman who went in with my husband is my younger sister. I am his real wife.

Even she found it ridiculous to say this. Luckily, the guard had heard rumors about the twin sisters and let her in.

When Cassandra entered the hall, Oliver was standing on stage, holding Biancas hand. He looked at Bianca with gentle eyes.

Everything Ive achieved is thanks to her support, he said. Even this charity work was her idea.

People in the audience praised them.

Mrs. Prescott is so kind.

Director Oliver is truly blessed.

Shes beautiful and kind. It would be perfect if she could have a child.

Thats easy now. Medical technology is advanced.

Suddenly, the hall fell silent.

Someone gasped. Why is there another Mrs. Prescott here?

Someone whispered, That cant be the twin sister of Mrs. Prescott, right?

Under everyones gaze, Cassandra walked forward. Bianca, you dared acting as me to be at this charity gala. Arent you afraid of being exposed?

Bianca froze. Oliver reacted quickly and spoke first.

Arent you busy with Grandma Willows funeral? he said. That's why I asked your sister to come instead.

Cassandra looked at both of them and smiled coldly. Instead of me? Or so she could become your wife?

Her face suddenly darkened. Bianca, if you dont want me to expose your secret, return that dress to me.

That is the only thing Grandma Willow left me, and the only thing I can still keep.

Bianca laughed, her eyes full of provocation. I wont take it off. What can you do?

Cassandra laughed too. You came to my house, seduced my husband, became the third woman in your own sisters marriage

Before she could finish, Oliver covered her mouth. He looked shocked and turned to the crowd. My wife is mentally unstable after a death of our grandmother.

Cassandra bit his palm hard. Oliver pulled his hand back in pain.

These are all true! Cassandra shouted. Im not crazy

Before she could finish, Oliver signaled the bodyguards. They immediately dragged her away.

Please come with us.

Bianca hadnt expected Cassandra to say everything on live stream. A flash of cruelty then crossed her eyes.

She smiled and followed behind. Sister, Ill change and give the dress back to you.

Backstage, Oliver frowned. How did you find out?

I saw it that night.

Olivers expression changed. After a long pause, he said, Yes, I like Bianca. But I still married you in the end.

Then he added, You should be satisfied. Youve been Mrs. Prescott for so long.

Cassandra felt only mockery. Any feelings she once had disappeared when Grandma Willow died.

Coldly, she said, You forced me. Give me the dress back and Ill pretend I know nothing.

Oliver was stunned. She used to love him deeply. Why was she so calm about this now?

A deep unease rose in his heart. He never thought that, to Cassandra, he was less important than a dress.

Cassandra, he said angrily, Its just a dress. Is this really necessary?

You have so many clothes. I can buy you ten, a hundred!

Cassandra looked straight at him. She can have any dress she wants. But not this one. Grandma Willow made it for me with her own hands.

Olivers face darkened. Before he could respond, Bianca stepped forward.

Sister, do you know what people are saying about you? She showed her the live comments.

The comments were full of insults.

She married into the Prescotts and still fights over a dress?]

[She ruined the live broadcast on purpose.]

[No wonder the Prescotts never accepted her.]

One comment said, [But that dress was from her grandma.]

It was quickly drowned out.

Bianca smiled softly. See, sister? Youre being unreasonable.

If you really want it, she said, Ill take it off and give it back to you.

She turned to Oliver. Oliver, you should go first.

Oliver looked at Cassandra with guilt. Then he hid his emotions.

Cassandra, he said, I owe you, but the position of Mrs. Prescott will always be yours.

Biancas eyes turned cold. She went into the changing room. Cassandra followed her to get the dress.

Bianca lifted the dress in her hands. Sister, do you really want this dress that badly?

Yes, Cassandra said firmly. You can take everything else from me. Even Grandma Willows inheritance. But not this dress.

Alright, Bianca said with a smile.

She pretended to hand it over but then suddenly tore it apart with her hands.

Rip.

It felt like a thunderbolt. Cassandras mind went blank. She rushed forward and clutched the torn fabric.

No!!

Cassandra's hands trembled as she picked up the dress.

The diamonds that once shone like stars were scattered all over the floor. The deep blue gown was torn beyond repair.

Bianca showed no guilt at all. A cruel smile appeared on her face. Sister, did you ever wonder why Grandma Willow died so suddenly?

She leaned close and whispered each word clearly into Cassandras ear. I was the one who switched her medicine to something that made her illness worse.

When she died, she kept calling your name. She wanted to see you. So, I made sure she never could.

Looking at Biancas proud smile, a deep chill spread through Cassandras body. It felt like cold had reached her bones.

She could no longer control her emotions. Bianca, she was your grandma too! How could you do something like this?

She left inheritance for both of us, Cassandra said, her voice shaking. How can you face her? Bianca, do you even have a heart?

Biancas expression suddenly twisted with hatred. That old woman gave me a few million. What is that compared to what she gave you? She favored you so much. I wanted her dead!

Why do you deserve everything when youre worse than me in every way? Grandma Willow did that. Even Oliver chose you.

The more she spoke, the angrier she became. The hatred in her eyes was terrifyingly real

Cassandra looked at her distorted face and felt completely powerless.

Before Cassandra could say anything, Bianca suddenly stepped back in panic. Sister, Im sorry! Please dont hit me! Dont hurt me!

Cassandra froze.

Bianca kept stepping backward. Behind her was the staircase. Before Cassandra could warn her, Bianca fell down the stairs.

Bang.

Cassandras head buzzed.

At that moment, Oliver rushed in after hearing the noise. He walked in just in time to see Bianca fall.

He looked up at Cassandra in disbelief, his eyes red with rage. Cassandra! I fell in love with her, sure, but she is still your sister! Why are you doing this to her?!

Cassandra breathed rapidly and shook her head. I didnt push her. She fell on her own.

Oliver laughed angrily. Do you think Id believe that?

Cassandra clenched her phone, about to say she had proof. But suddenly, the world spun.

In a burst of rage, Oliver shoved her hard. She fell down the stairs.

Bang.

Her body hit the ground violently. Sharp pain exploded through her entire body. She heard bones crack and screamed in agony.

Oliver stood above her on the steps, looking down coldly. If you like pushing people so much, then feel what its like yourself.

Cassandras vision went dark.

Just before she lost consciousness, she saw Oliver gently holding Bianca in his arms.

When she woke up again, she was lying on the cold floor. No one was there.

The blood on her body had already dried. The door was shut. Everything around her was dark.

She limped forward. Every step sent sharp pain through her body.

She banged on the door again and again. She shouted until her voice became hoarse.

Time passed slowly.

Only in the morning did someone finally open the door.

A staff member looked at the blood on the floor and sneered. Clean this up before you leave, would you?

When Cassandra returned to the Prescott home, she saw that the dress Grandma Willow gave her was completely destroyed.

She asked someone to repair it.

They shook their head. Im sorry, miss. The damage is too severe. Even if we fix it, it wont look the same.

Cassandras fingers trembled as she ended the call.

She couldnt keep Grandma Willows inheritance. Now even the last thing her grandma left her was gone.

She collapsed onto the floor, her face pale.

Her phone then vibrated. Ms. Wolfe, the car is ready. We can leave around three.

Cassandra closed her tired eyes. Alright.

Around the same time, Oliver asked the nurse at the hospital, Is there a woman named Cassandra Wolfe admitted here?

The nurse shook her head. No, sir.

Olivers right eyelid twitched. A sudden feeling of unease rose in his chest.

The next second, Bianca on the hospital bed looked at him with tears in her eyes. Oliver, go check on my sister. Im fine.

This was her usual trick, pretending to step back so he would stay. In the past, Oliver always fell for it. But this time, he hesitated.

Just as Bianca thought he would stay, Oliver stood up. Rest well. Ill come back to see you soon.

On the way home, Olivers mind was filled with Biancas tearful face. He rushed back as fast as he could and pushed the door open in panic.

Behind the door, Cassandra was watching the security footage. On the screen, Oliver and Bianca were hugging closely.

Her stomach twisted. She felt sick.

So while she was gone, Oliver had brought Bianca into their shared bedroom and done all kinds of intimate things there.

Bang.

The front door slammed shut. Cassandra instinctively turned off the monitor. She looked at him coldly.

Why are you here?

Shouldnt he be with Bianca right now?

Seeing Cassandra standing in the living room, the worry Oliver carried all the way finally eased.

He looked around the house and noticed many things were missing. On the jewelry table, the pieces he had casually bought for Cassandra, the ones she once treasured, were all gone.

Sandra where is the jewelry I gave you? His voice sounded unsteady.

Unlike his anxiety, Cassandra remained calm. They were old. They cracked. I threw them into the trash.

Why didnt you tell me? Oliver said quickly. If theyre damaged, its fine to throw them away. Ill buy you new ones.

This was the first time since their marriage that Oliver called himself her husband.

Cassandra looked at him in surprise. Her heart felt completely still.

Oliver was thinking about something else and didnt reflect much on the jewelry. Softly, he said, Sandra, my parents have accepted our relationship.

Wait a little longer before leaving. Tomorrow, Im planning a surprise for you.

There was a trace of guilt in his eyes. I love your sister, but I promise you, the position of Mrs. Prescott will always be yours.

For a rare moment, he looked sincere.

Cassandra stared at the face she had known since youth. Her numb heart still felt a sharp pain. How could he say something so cruel so calmly?

She swallowed the ache. She wanted to say that Bianca could have the title if she wanted it.

Before she could speak, Olivers phone rang.

It was Bianca.

Oliver, where are you? I think I touched my wound. It hurts so much.

With just one sentence, Oliver grabbed his keys and turned to leave.

Then he noticed how quiet it was behind him.

He turned back. Sandra, Ill come back to see you tonight.

Cassandra stood still, silently watching his retreating back.

She made a phone call. Is everything ready?

Yes. It will be released tomorrow.

After hanging up, Cassandra curved her lips slightly. Perfect. I also have a surprise for you tomorrow.

A car had already arrived downstairs.

Cassandra left a letter, went downstairs and got into the car. Her phone vibrated again.

It was a message from Oliver: [Tomorrow, go to the hotel. A makeup artist will be there. This time, Ill let you become my wife openly.]

Cassandra forwarded the location to Bianca. Then she blocked Oliver, Bianca and both parents numbers.

She slowly let out a breath and said to the driver, Drive.

Alright. Please sit tight. The car moved forward slowly.

Cassandra looked out the window at the passing scenery.

She whispered to herself, "Oliver, Ive already left. When you finally realize Im gone, how will you feel then?"
